Was wondering the same, as no official announcement from the club.
I'm assuming (guessing) it'll be announced after Moyes rides off into the sunset tomorrow evening.

Does this Spanish geezer actually work for WHU yet. In other words has he signed a contract?

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
Letā€™s be honest Moyes has completely fucked the squad and just adds to his terrible management. To even have the bolloxs to come out and say he can only work with a small squad admits that he is so very limited. I still think it is a good opportunity to bring in some quality players and youths that Moyes simply wouldnā€™t know how to manage.

I like the way we are being linked with a lot of youths and a sprinkling of experienced pros. I also think we will have kudus for another season. I predict a rocky start but will be top half quite easily by season end and maybe a cup run.

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
We need at least one if not two centre backs unless Zouma can somehow reverse whatever is affecting his knees and his ability to run he should not be anywhere near the teamsheet next season...Might be too early for Casey.. and hopefully Aguerd stays and improves under a less defensive based strategy.

Having a backbone of players is all well and good but we need squad depth too... we cant wholly rely on youth players coming through do we do need to strengthen on top of the CBs - RB, LB, CF, LW ... I think we are ok in the middle with Earthy, Downes, Orford and Potts to add to JWP and Alvarez and hopefully Soucek gets a role as an impact sub.

Massive Attack, I also for some reason see the state of the squad being a reason Loppy has taken us onā€¦..big chance for him to work with a good person at identifying players in Steidten and plenty of room in the squad to remould itā€¦..of course the midget may fuck that theory upā€¦.

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
I agree with North bank, we have a good team and are only a few players off from really kicking on. The last thing we need to do is run out and panic buy. Especially if our kids are all as good as many of you seem to think.

So stop making excuses for J Lo. Letā€™s get behind him and the team but stop talking bollocks ffs. He is here to do better than Moyes and that includes league position.

Letā€™s hope he delivers, no excuses.

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
I could definitely see the side struggle (Paqueta is going), especially if we et injuries which we've been lucky with this season. The Squad as a whole is far too old, slow and lacking in numbers. A small nucleus of quality won't mask the Squads deficiencies as a whole once even more players leave this summer. Paqueta, Agued and possibly Kudus are the latest high profile one's looking to leave.

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
Massive Attack true he has allowed the squad to be thin in parts by falling out and allowing contracts to run down with no adequate replacements, that said we still have a strong starting XI , in parts, which shouldn't be anywhere near a struggle and have played together over many games, Areola, Coufal Emerson, Mav, Zouma, Alvarez,JWP, Kudus, Bowen, Paqueta (if he stays), Antonio.

Hardly the backbone of a side that should struggle, especially if we add a first choice striker, centre back and left mid, imho many in the media see us as an open house to criticise for whatever reason & we tend to attract a lot of flack Merson, Stelling, Sutton, Savage, White, Collymore, Jordan, Deeney, Ferdinand, Crooks etc,

Thinking about Roberto still gives me the shudders. Amazed at how he became a professional footballer.

To be fair I donā€™t know much of his history, but he is quite possibly the worst signing we have ever made based on the number of calamitous fuck ups per appearance.

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
We may well struggle next season, but as a club we tend to be patient with Managers, and we may need to be. Those expecting the Fairytale at Villa to happen here might well be a bit disappointed. It might happen eventually but we need to give the new guy time and we'll need to invest. Don't forget we are losing Paqueta and he would leave any squad with a massive hole, not to mention Fornals and Benrahma who we havent really replaced,

Busy summer and interesting season to come.

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
Actually hounded was too strong a word for it, I agree. However many wanted him gone though, even though he was only here for 18 months. That's not long enough to change a culture and instill your beliefs at a Club and the reason it went tits up was the untimely injury to Fabianski (his big money signing) and then Roberto (Hussilos cheapo reserve Keeper deal) fucked it all up. We actually got off to a good start before Fabianski got his long term injury, after getting us to 10th in his 1st season whilst playing some decent Football.

I don't want to see a repeat from the Club getting itchy trigger fingers again if it isn't quite going right at the start of his tenure, especially after the mitigating disaster that was based on 1 reserve Keeper in goal fucking it all up.

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
The more I read about this Lopetegui bloke the more I warm to the idea of him taking over!

Was a little underwhelmed and disappointed at first but seems this could actually be a decent appointment?

Letā€™s fucking hope so, canā€™t wait for the new season to start, hope Tim and co get our business done earlyā€¦ā€¦ā€¦for a fucking change :-( and plenty of time for new recruits to bed in and gel with what we already have.

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
Pellegrini wasnā€™t hounded out.(Check out the goalkeeping during his time.) No ex player in the main stream media is going to say nice things about us. Because no ex player of any worth gets any air time on the main stream media. (Maybe the odd scrap of time for Gale and The Cole Brothers.)

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
Aa much as I'm a fan of Lopetegui, I also expect us to be struggling at the beginning, so I make them right. However not for the reasons they think. Moyes has left the Squad in a bit of a shit tip, what with contracts running down/out and being the 2nd oldest Squad around, it'll need some big surgery and a while until the new Squad is bedded in together with some of the ones already here.

Lopetegui will need time and not hounded out like Pellegrini was. The type of quality Football many of us wish to see doesn't just happen instantly overnight and I'll be patient for him to achieve it. So results along the way will likely suffer and I'm at ease with that for the bigger picture of both performances and results starting to come together the longer his methods are implemented and understood.

Say he does manage to click it all into gear early doors though, then watch out as the Football will be shit hot and worthwhile and not a dickiebird will be heard from any of the Be Careful Brigade. My feeling is it will have to take time though.

I see the media are once again lining up to dig out West Ham out of their loyalty to Moyes, yesterday Collymore today another prize nugget in Troy Deeney, saying outside of the promoted clubs he expects West Ham to be struggling after 10 games

I would imagine Sullivan couldnā€™t care less. And the only thing he was listening out for was. ā€œHow much this will cost you.!ā€

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
According to The Athletic, Lopetegui told Sullivan during a sales pitch that he intends to push West Ham to a level whereby we qualify for the Champions League.
